Lady Rangers take third at East Texas Shoot-Out

Jessica Thomas-Billot and Jenesis Castillo raced their way to top 10 finishes on Sept. 10 and carried the Ranger College women's cross country team to third in the team standings at the East Texas Shoot-Out in Commerce. Ranger finished the meet with 73 points.

Dallas Baptist won the women's team title.

A returning all-American, Thomas-Billot turned in her second straight stellar outing. She legged out a time of 19 minutes, 11.26 seconds - a new school record in the 5-kilometer race - and took fifth in the women's race. She trailed Emme O'Donnell of Dallas Baptist, the overall winner, by just 30.01 seconds. O'Donnell finished at 18:41.25.

Castillo finished 10th overall at 20:05.12.

Madison Rowland and Alauna Stackhouse also finished in the top 20. Rowland, a freshman, was 15th at 20:17.74. Stackhouse, who was also part of last year's squad, was 17th at 20:28.83.

Cameryn Boykin rounded out RC's top five, placing 34th at 22:27.87.

The Lady Rangers will return to action on Sept. 24 at the NMJC Invitational in Hobbs.
