Kaycie Shannon is back with Ranger Volleyball, and has something to share - leadership!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

RANGER - Kaycie Shannon is in her first season as the assistant coach at Ranger College. Kaycie has coached 2 club seasons as a student athlete at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, TX. As an assistant coach she helped the 18's top team at Wichita Falls Elite to an appearance at Nationals in April of 2023 where they placed 27th.

Concerning her expectations from her players, Coach noted "I expect a ton from the girls, we have a lot of talent on our team with a ton of talent coming in also. I am ready to help them get to the next level both academically and athletically."

Coach Shannon was no slacker either with her time on the court as a player. She was a 4-year letterman out of Pleasanton High School, class of 2019, and helped her team to 4 consecutive district championships, 2 area championships, and 2 appearances at the regional qualifier with 498 kills as a Senior. Further, she was named 3-time first-team all-district, 3 time academic all-state, 2-time offensive player of the year, 1-time defensive player of the year and was awarded the TGCA all-star team. Shannon ended her high school career with 87 wins under her belt.

After High School Kaycie signed her LOI to play volleyball at Ranger College, as a freshman and sophomore she was named 2nd team all-conference and helped her team to a conference tournament appearance in 2020 with 411.5 points attributed in her time spent at Ranger. After her 2 years at Ranger, Shannon then signed on to play at Midwestern State University and suffered a season ending injury as a junior.

When asked about her coaching style, she stated "I am young and still learning, but my coaching style focuses on the fundamentals. Without a good foundation it is extremely difficult to build up. I am pulled towards the small mechanical holes that I see in a player; I am always looking for something that another coach might've missed. Volleyball has been my passion for so long and my drive is powered by each athlete that I've been blessed enough to coach."

Despite her age, Coach Shannon looks comfortable on campus. When asked what made her this way, she said "I am really excited for this opportunity to coach at a high level. I am always looking for a way to learn and improve my skills. I have seen so many familiar faces and I am so excited to be part of the Ranger family again."

Ranger College is excited to see what Coach Shannon will bring to the game.
