Morgan to continue career at LCU

Macie Morgan had options when it came to continuing her collegiate volleyball career. The 5-foot, 9-inch all-conference had been contacted by teams from Montana, West Virginia, Ohio and Oklahoma seeking for her to bring her talents there.

In the end, the Fort Worth native decided the South Plains was the best place for her.

A two-year standout at Ranger College. Morgan signed on with Lubbock Christian University on Tuesday.

"I was in contact with multiple other schools but LCU is exactly where I need and want to be," said Morgan, who signed her deal with LCU in front of her coaches and teammates in the Golemon Library..

A sophomore outside hitter from Fort Worth, Morgan was one of the top players in the NTJCAC this season. She finished the season ranked among the team's top players in several categories, and was a driving force in the Lady Rangers' ability to advance to the postseason.

Overall, Morgan finished 551 attacks, 182 kills, 146 digs and 17 blocks.

At LCU, Morgan will be joining a rapidly improving Lady Chaparrals' program that almost finished at .500 in the Lone Star Conference. Overall, LCU went 11-16, including a7-9 in the LSC.

Morgan credited RC head coach Nicole Smith and her teammates for helping her develop her skills over the past two seasons.

"I had a lot up ups and downs here at Ranger," she said. "But I wouldn't trade my two years here for anything. I learned and grew more than I thought I would in a place like this. I met people that I will forever remember. Ranger really is home and I am thankful for every second I spent here."

With her signing, Morgan is the third RC standout to sign with a large university. Earlier this spring, Alondra Esparza and Ja'Kerra Holt signs deals to continue their careers. Esparza will be playing for Southwestern Christian University. Holt signed with Texas A&M-Texarkana.
