Lady Rangers fall in Region V finals

BROWNWOOD, Texas – The ladies of Ranger College Women’s Soccer Team (6-6-0, 3-3-0) competed against the Hill College Rebels (13-1-0, 6-0-0) in the 2022 NJCAA Regional V Championship game on October 26, 2022, resulting in a close loss for the Rangers.

Ranger fans showed their support with strong attendance.

Coach Julio Guerrero shared that he was proud of his team and the progress they had made over the year. He also noted that he was very excited for the future of Ranger Soccer.

The team worked consistently. Keeper Maria Goncalves, a sophomore from Curitiba, Brazil, made multiple saves as the first half concluded 0-0. First-year students Camila Preito of El Paso and Liberty Garza of Brownsville kept the Rebel defense on their heels. The entire team did not stop their push for victory until the final buzzer.

The Hill College team stood undefeated in the league and the Rangers fought this tough opponent. In the 80th minute, Hill College scored. Shortly after, a corner kick by Ranger came up just inches short of scoring. Hill College edged out the Rangers in a final score of 1-0.
