Lady Rangers honor sophomores in season finale

The Ranger College Lady Rangers honored their four sophomores - Angel Reese, Giordin Johnson, Bre'Asiajah Mathews and Zaniaya Williams - in their final home game against Grayson College on Feb. 26.
Reese, a standout from Amarillo, averaged 9.6 points per game and 7.4 rebounds per game while being named honorable mention all-conference both her freshman and sophomore seasons.
Johnson, a star from New Orleans, was the team's starting point guard. She led the team in charges taken (26), while carrying a 3.7 grade point average. Also, she was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa National honors society.
Mathews, a standout from Garland, was the Lady Rangers' leading scorer, averaging 15.4 points and 6.2 rebounds per night. Mathews transferred to RC prior to this season after playing her freshman season at the University of New Mexico
Williams, from Buford, Georgia, was a Presidential Scholar and one of the team's spiritual leaders.
"I'm very proud of this group of sophomores," said Ranger college coach Bill Foy. "They were a pleasure to coach and will all be successful at the four-year colleges they move on to."
In the game, Grayson got revenge for its earlier overtime loss to Ranger by claiming a 76-67 decision.
Alena Wilson led the Lady Rangers with 19 points and seven rebounds. Giordin Johnson had 10 points, while Imani McNeal added nine points and 10 rebounds.
The Lady Rangers finished the season at 22-8.
