Stanton selected the NJCAA HM All-American roster

Ranger College guard Shan'Qaylia Stanton picked up yet another honor earlier this month, being named an honorable mention All-American by the National Junior College Athletic Association.

A first-team All-NTJCAC and first-team All-Region, Stanton was one of the top players in the nation. She led Region V with 160 assists, while ranking third in steals (83) and 10th in scoring (14.7). She also ranked first in the region in minutes played.

A native of Clio, South Carolina, Stanton finished her career with 767 points. During her two-year career under coach Bill Foy, she hit on 290 of her 706 attempts from the field (41%) and helped the Lady Rangers amass more than 40 wins and make back-to-back appearances in the regional tournament. As a freshman and sophomore, she rolled up 136 steals and 267 assists in 61 games.

Stanton was among six sophomores who finished their RC careers this season. Other RC sophomores graduating are Ruby Angoc, Jaylan Gulley, Marshalia Lollie, Kylah Mize, and Ny'Keria Jones. Each of these players made honorable mention All-Conference. In addition, Gulley was Co-Most Valuable Defensive player of the year.

"I'm very proud of this group of sophomores," said Foy. "They were dedicated on and off the floor and exhibited great leadership. Also, they will all be graduating in May with their associate's degree."
