Reese posts double-double in RC’s win over ‘Lassies

Angel Reese wasn't playing a good brand of basketball against the McLennan Community College Highlassies. She was playing an all-conference brand of good basketball. And the Ranger College Lady Rangers benefitted from it.

Reese pumped in a team-high 18 points and grabbed 14 rebounds on Jan. 9 and powered the Lady Rangers to a 57-47 victory in a key Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference matchup in Waco. With the victory, Ranger moved to 2-0 in NTJCAC action and, more importantly, moved atop the conference standings.

McLennan, 9-7 for the season, got off to a quick start. The Highlassies pounded out 14 points in the first 10 minutes of play and carried a 4-point lead, at 14-10, into the start of the second.

The Lady Rangers' offense came to life from there. Ranger, which also picked up solid play from sophomore Kylah Mize and freshman Qaylia Stanton, took the upper hand by grinding out 18 second-quarter points.

Ranger held a 28-25 lead into the half.

The Lady Rangers, now 12-3, all but iced the game in the third. RC outscored McLennan by a 15-9 clip in the frame and build a 43-34 advantage.

Mize finished the game with nine points, while Stanton chipped in seven.
