Ranger College Softball traveled to Midland College this past weekend for a 2-game series against the Chaparrals

RANGER – Ranger College Softball traveled to Midland College this past weekend for a 2-game series against the Chaparrals.

In the first game, Midland College took the victory over Ranger College. The game took place on February 3 and saw Midland College secure a 9-0 victory over their Ranger.

Midland College showcased their offensive firepower, scoring runs in four out of the five innings played. The Chaparral's hitters were in top form, recording a total of seven hits throughout the game. They capitalized on their opportunities, driving in nine runs to secure a comfortable victory.

Ranger College faced difficulties both offensively and defensively throughout the game. Their hitters struggled to find their rhythm, managing only two hits, and failing to score any runs. Pitcher Jada Moreno had a challenging outing, giving up nine runs on nine hits in just 4.2 innings pitched.

In the second game of the day for Ranger and Midland, the latter emerged victorious with a commanding score of 21-8. The high-scoring affair showcased Midland College's offensive prowess, as they capitalized on Ranger College's pitching struggles.

Midland College's batting lineup was on fire, amassing a total of 17 hits and 19 RBIs throughout the game. They wasted no time, scoring two runs in the first inning to match Ranger College's early lead. Their momentum continued to build, as they scored six runs in the second inning, eight runs in the third inning, and five runs in the fourth inning, ultimately securing a convincing victory.

Ranger College's pitching staff faced significant challenges in containing Midland College's powerful offense. Starter Alyssa Meza endured a tough outing, allowing 21 runs in just three innings. She struggled with control, issuing five walks, and surrendering three home runs. Sarah Gonzalez took over in relief but was unable to halt Midland College's offensive onslaught.

Despite the loss, Ranger College displayed resilience at the plate, accumulating 14 hits and eight runs. Alayna Parram and Malarie Mican each contributed an RBI, while Alyssa Meza had an impressive performance, going 3-for-3 with two RBIs.

Ranger College comes home to play two games against Howard College on Wednesday, February 7. The first pitch is scheduled for 1:00 and 3:00 p.m.
