Softball gets its first victory in 2024, and it happens in their first series of the season.

Ranger College Softball had a great start to their 2024 season with a split with the Frank Phillips College Plainsmen.

The first game was a thrilling baseball matchup. Frank Phillips College started strong as they managed to score two runs in the first inning.

Frank Phillips College's pitchers, led by P. Chandler, put on an impressive display. Chandler pitched a flawless game, not allowing any runs, hits, or errors.

On the other hand, Ranger College's pitchers, Alyssa Meza and Sarah Gonzalez, faced some challenges on the mound. Meza, who started the game, pitched for 4.2 innings and allowed three runs and five walks. Despite her efforts, Meza couldn't prevent Frank Phillips College from scoring. Gonzalez took over for the remaining 2.1 innings, allowing only one run.

Ranger College's Alyssa Parram, Malarie Mican, Alyssa Meza, Jenna Cox, Alyssa Vicenty, Samantha Templeton, Ariana Murray, and Mallory Stiehl tried their best to get their team on the scoreboard. Although they managed to get some hits, they were unable to convert them into runs.

The game also saw some impressive base running from both teams. Ranger College's Malarie Mican and Alyssa Vicenty successfully stole bases, while Samantha Templeton was caught stealing. These aggressive base-running strategies added excitement to the game.

In the second game between Frank Phillips College and Ranger College, Ranger came away with its first win with a dominant 13-5 win.

Ranger College started strong, scoring two runs in the first inning. However, Frank Phillips College quickly responded with a run of their own in the top of the first. In the third inning, Ranger College exploded offensively, scoring eight runs to take a commanding lead. They continued to pile on the runs in the later innings, scoring four in the sixth and five in the seventh.

The offensive stars for Ranger College were Malarie Mican, who went 4-for-5 with a double and an RBI, and Marlie Strong, who also had a strong game, going 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. Ariana Murray and Samantha Templeton also had notable performances, each driving in three and four runs, respectively.

Pitcher Jada Moreno was credited with the win for Ranger College.

Ranger College Run Ruled Frank Phillips and won the game 13-5.

Softball's next series begins tomorrow and goes on until Wednesday at Galveston College.
