Rangers run to 4th at NMJC Invite

The Ranger College men's cross country team ran their way to fourth in the final standings at the NMJC Invite on Sept. 20 in Hobbs, New Mexico. More importantly, they got a look at the road ahead.

Keyed by a solid outing from Allen Price, the Rangers turned in a strong outing at the site up the upcoming regional championships in October. The RC men tied Western Texas for third in the final team point totals but finished fourth in the standings due to a tiebreaker.

"It was a good chance to see the other Region V teams in action, and prep for the Region V championship meet back at NMJC on October 30," said RC head coach Christopher Zent.

Shea Johnson led the RC men on the trail. He completed the 8-kilometer race with a time of 27 minutes, 0.79 seconds and placed 13th overall.

Price checked in three spots later at No. 16 with a personal-best mark of 27:06.54.

Arian Reyes, Angel Torres and Christopher Santana rounded out the Rangers' scorers with top 30 finishes. Reyes was 20th in the individual standings with a run of 28:21.93. Torres and Santana were 28th and 29th, respectively, with marks of 28:21.93 and 28:27.29.

Kalil Bell just missed the top 30, placing 31st at 28:46.52.

Rodolfo Sandoval, Joevonne Juarez, Oscar de Los Santos and Dylan Sasser also competed in the race.

The Rangers will compete in the Chile Pepper Invitational in Magnolia, Arkansas, on Oct. 2.
