Bio

Gil Williams enters his first season as the head men’s and women’s golf coach at Ranger College. Williams comes to Ranger from the University of Texas-Permian Basin where he served as the assistant men’s and women’s golf coach. Williams has also had stints serving in various capacities at Midland College, Dallas Baptist, LeTourneau University and the University of Louisiana-Monroe. 

In Williams’ two years on the staff at UTPB, the Falcons shattered the record book with the highest rankings in school history on both the men’s and the women’s side. The Falcons garnered the lowest single-round team score and lowest team 54-hole total in school history on the women’s side. On the men’s side, the Falcons earned the first individual win in school history, the lowest individual and team scoring averages in school history, as well as the first All-Conference selection in school history. During Williams’ tenure, the Falcons were able to sign three Division I transfers and three players ranked in the Top 100 in the country in NJCAA.

Williams also has experience as a basketball coach, with successful stints at his prior stops.  As a graduate assistant at Dallas Baptist, he helped guide the Patriots to the most wins in program history, a Heartland Conference championship and a bid to the NCAA tournament. As a student assistant, he helped guide LeTourneau to a 22-win season - the most in program history, their first conference championship and was instrumental in the recruitment of NCAA DIII National Player of the Year Nate West. In the 2014-15 season, Williams was on the staff at ULM that achieved the first 20-win season in over a decade and reached the finals of the College Basketball Invitational Tournament.

Williams’ teams have consistently excelled in the classroom with over a dozen athletes named to Conference All-Academic teams and an Academic Team of the year Award.

Williams earned his Bachelor of Science in interdisciplinary studies from LeTourneau University in 2017.
