Rangers grab 4th at Fall opener

The Ranger College men's golf team kicked off its Fall season last weekend with a solid showing at the 2021 Andrews College AM Invitational. The RC men, paced by a top 10 finish from Howon Kim, placed fourth in the final team standings in the Sept. 11-12 meet.

Ranger finished the meet with a final mark of 568. Midland College edged out McLennan Community College by three strokes, 546-549, to take first.

Kim led the Rangers in their season debut. The RC sophomore recorded one of the better rounds on the Andrews Country Club course on Sept. 11, firing a three-under 69 over the first 18 holes. He carded a 70 on the final day and finished in a tie for eighth in the final standings with a total of 135.

Thomas DuFour narrowly missed a top 10 finish. He was 11th overall after back-to-back rounds of 72 and 68 left him in a four-way tie for 11th - one stroke off a ninth-place showing.

Jarrod Johnson and Luke Stock played themselves into top 25 positions. Johnson posted rounds of 71 and 73 and finished 22nd at 144. Stock finished one stroke behind his teammate, at 145, and placed 25th.

Nathaniel Frink and Oriol Fort tied for 36th at 157.

The RC men will return to action on Sept. 25 when they travel to Ruidoso, New Mexico, for the 2021 High Country Shootout.
