RC men take 4th at TWU tournament
The Ranger College men's golf team turned in a solid showing at Texas Wesleyan University's Texas Intercollegiate tournament this past weekend in Fort Worth. The Ranger men finished fourth in the final standings behind three 4-year programs from Wayland Baptist, Oklahoma City and Texas Wesleyan.
As a team, the Rangers completed the three-day tournament with a score of 879, and finished just 39 strokes behind Wayland Baptist in the 54-hole meet.
Kittiphong Phaithuncharoensuk paced Ranger's outing. He placed fifth in the individual standings with a final mark of 5-under par 211. He carded rounds of 74, 68 and 69, respectively.
Howon Kim and Brendan Powers also turned in solid outings. Kim placed 10th in the medalist standings with a 216. Powers was 18th overall at 224.
Grant Ferreira and Luke Stock also played well. Ferreira tied for 23rd overall with a score of 228. Stock was 36th at 237.
The Rangers' B placed seventh overall, thanks in part to a solid showing by Thomas DuFour. He finished in a tie for 26th with a total of 229.
Jarad Arras and Oriol Fort also carded strong performances for the B team, which turned in a mark of 922 over the three days. Arras tied for 28th with a score of 230. Fort was 42nd at 240.
Nathaniel Frink and Alex Fowke were 43rd and 50th, respectively.
