Tominaga wins College Three-Point Championship
Former Ranger College standout Keisei Tominaga won the Hanes Originals Soft Touch College Men's 3-Point Championship on Thursday afternoon in front of a large crowd in Phoenix.
Tominaga, now a NCAA Division I star at the University of Nebraska, won all three rounds of the contest, including a 19-17 win over Hofstra's Tyler Thomas to clinch the title. Later, he edged out Indiana's Sara Scalia, the women's three-point champion, to win the Skechers Battle of the Champions showcase.
In the first round of the Hanes Originals Soft Touch College Men's 3-Point Championship, Tominaga put on a shooting clinic, hitting 24 of his 25 shots and defeated Northwestern's Boo Biue, 25-19.
In the second round, he nailed a last-second shot from the corner that gave him a 24-23 win over Ohio State's Jamison Battle.
Thomas knocked down 17 to start the title round. Tominaga, tied the score heading into his final five shots. He drained a three-pointer with 4.9 seconds left to clinch the win.
Prior to leading Nebraska to the NCAA tournament, Tominaga guided Ranger College to back-to-back trips to the NJCAA Men's Division I National Tournament in Hutchinson, Kansas. He still holds the Rangers' all-time mark for three-pointers made and ranks in the top five in all-time points scored.
