Dillingham's 7 RBI leads RC to sweep of Hill

Jaxon Haynes drove in three runs in Game 1 on Wednesday and Joseph Lee rode a Herculean effort from Jackson Dillingham to a win in the nightcap as Ranger College swept their doubleheader with the Hill College Rebels on Wednesday afternoon.

With the wins, the Rangers moved to 8-6 in Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference play and, more importantly, climbed into sole possession of third-place in the conference standings. The Rangers enter this weekend's home doubleheader with Hill with a 1-game lead over Grayson for third. Only the top four teams in the final NTJCAC standings will advance to the Region V Baseball Championships.

Grabbing the win in Game 1 was anything but easy for RC. The Rebels tagged RC starter Emir Encalada for four runs in the second and third innings and took an 8-2 lead into the top of the fourth.

The Rangers' offense came to life in the fourth, however. Ranger College pushed across six runs in the plate and knotted the score at 8-8.

RC tacked on four more runs in the seventh to close out the wild 12-11 come-from-behind win.

Haynes led the Rangers' offense. He went 2-for-5 from the plate with a double and three RBI. Michael Idrogo-Torres, Robert Oropeza, Andrew Perez and Jackson Dillingham added two RBI apiece.

Byron Madero worked 3.2 innings in relief of Encalada to pick up the win. Kyle Hughes pitched the final two-thirds of an inning to record his second save.

The RC offense kept pounding out runs in Game 2. The Rangers scored three or more runs in four innings and rolled to an easy 17-7 decision.

Lee worked seven innings on the mound en route to improving to 8-3 for the year. He finished with 10 strikeouts.

Dillingham led the RC offense. He went 2-for-5 with a home run and a team-high seven RBI. He also scored three runs.

J.T. Thompson and Adin Morehouse also did well. Thompson went 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBI, while Morehouse went 3-for-4 with three RBI.
