Ranger College Baseball takes out the brooms and sweeps Luna Community College over the weekend

RANGER – Ranger College Baseball takes out the brooms and sweeps Luna Community College over the weekend, moving to 9-4 on the season.

In the first of four games for the series between Luna Community College and Ranger College on February 16 and 17, Ranger College emerged victorious with a score of 12-3. Ranger College dominated the game, scoring 3 runs in the second inning, 4 in the third, and 4 in the sixth inning.

Luna Community College struggled to keep up with only 4 hits and 3 runs throughout the game. On the other hand, Ranger College had 14 hits and 12 runs, showcasing their strong offense.

Ranger College's pitcher, Emir Encalada, had a solid performance allowing only 2 runs in 5 innings pitched. Pitchers for Luna Community College faced difficulties where J. Peterson gave up 7 runs in 2.1 innings pitched.

In game two, Ranger College again took home the "W" with a final score of 9-1. Ranger College dominated the game both offensively and defensively, limiting Luna Community College to just three hits throughout the game.

Ranger College got off to a strong start, scoring two runs in the first inning and adding to their lead in the following innings. Luna Community College managed to score one run in the fourth inning, but it was not enough to overcome Ranger College's lead.

Ranger College's pitcher, Joseph Lee, had an outstanding performance, allowing only one run on three hits while striking out eight batters in six innings. On the offensive side, Jackson Dillingham had a standout game with four RBIs, including a double.

Game 3 further showed Ranger's dominance for the weekend, as they shut out Luna Community College with a final score of 8-0.


Ranger College's pitcher, Louis Castano, had an outstanding game, pitching a complete game shutout while only allowing 2 hits and striking out 9 batters. The offense was led by Robert Oropeza, who had a standout performance with 3 doubles and 1 RBI.

On the other hand, Luna Community College struggled to get their offense going, only mustering 2 hits in the game. Their pitchers, M. Alley, I. Gutierrez, and A. Sosa, had a tough time containing Ranger College's potent lineup, giving up a total of 8 runs.

In game 4, Ranger finalized the sweep of Luna with a final score of 11-1. Ranger College had a strong offensive performance with 13 hits and 11 runs, while Luna Community College struggled with only 1 hit and 1 run.

Ranger College's offense was led by Terry Burrel and Adin Morehouse, who both had multiple hits and combined for 7 RBIs. Pitcher Kyle Hughes had a solid performance, allowing only 1 run on 1 hit while striking out 9 batters in 5.2 innings.

On the other hand, Luna Community College struggled at the plate with only one hit coming from C. Henson. Pitcher M. Sanchez took the loss, giving up 5 runs on 9 hits in 4 innings.

Overall, Ranger College's strong offense and pitching performance led them to a dominant sweep of the series over Luna Community College.

Ranger College next faces Navarro College as they take their show on the road and play a double-header in the Cleburne Railroaders Minor League Stadium on Wednesday, February 21 with the first pitch set for Noon and 3:00 p.m.
