Ranger College Baseball takes 2 of 3 games in the first home series in the 2024 season in a series, which took place on February 9-10, 2024.

In the first game, Coastal Bend College beat Ranger College by a score of 9-2.

Coastal Bend College wasted no time in taking the lead, scoring one run in the first inning. They continued by adding three runs in the third inning, one in the fifth inning, and four in the seventh inning. Their relentless hitting and ability to score consistently put them in control of the game.

Ranger faced difficulties in both their batting and fielding. They managed to score two runs in the second inning but were unable to add any more throughout the game. Their batting lineup struggled to find their footing against Coastal Bend's strong pitching and only managed five hits in total. Additionally, Ranger College committed four errors, which allowed Coastal Bend College to capitalize on its mistakes and extend its lead.

In game 2, Ranger took control, winning the game with a final score of 9-2.

The game started with Ranger taking an early lead, scoring one run in the first inning and another run in the second inning. They continued their momentum in the third inning, scoring an impressive six runs to extend their lead. Coastal Bend College managed to score one run in the third inning and another run in the seventh inning, but it was not enough to catch up to Ranger College's lead.

Ranger College's hitters had a strong performance, with J.T. Thompson and Andrew Perez leading the team with one RBI each. Joshua Comeaux, Tui Amosa, Robert Oropeza, and Adin Morehouse also contributed with one RBI each. Aden Morehouse had an impressive day at the plate, getting three hits in four at-bats.

On the pitching side, Joseph Lee from Ranger College had a solid performance, pitching for seven innings and allowing two runs on seven hits. He also struck out five batters. Abel Anzaldua came in as a relief pitcher for the last two innings and successfully shut down Coastal Bend College's offense. He did not allow any hits or runs during his time on the mound.

Overall, it was a dominant performance by Ranger College, both offensively and defensively. They capitalized on their scoring opportunities and their pitchers were able to limit Coastal Bend College's offense.

For game 3, Ranger again took over the diamond from Coastal Bend.

The game started with a defensive battle as both teams struggled to score in the early innings. It wasn't until the fifth inning when Ranger College's J.T. Thompson broke the deadlock with a two-run home run, giving his team a 2-0 lead. Thompson's clutch hit ignited the home crowd and put Coastal Bend College on the backfoot.

Coastal Bend College fought hard to make a comeback in the eighth inning. They managed to score a run, closing the gap to 2-1. However, Ranger College's pitching held firm, preventing any further damage. Despite Coastal Bend College's efforts, they couldn't overcome the deficit, ultimately falling short.

J.T. Thompson of Ranger was the standout player of the game, contributing both on offense and defense. Thompson's two-run home run proved to be the decisive moment of the game. He finished the game with two hits and two RBIs, showcasing his ability to perform under pressure.

On the pitching side, Louis Castano of Ranger College delivered an exceptional performance. Castano allowed no runs and only three hits over six innings, earning him the win. He displayed excellent control and struck out five batters, demonstrating his dominance on the mound.

Ranger College Baseball next faces Luna Community College in a 4-game homestand beginning Friday, February 16, with the first Pitch at noon, and continuing through Saturday.
