Lady Rangers push Hill to brink

Ranger College women's volleyball lost its Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Association showdown with Hill College on Monday, but they may have gained something even more important – confidence.

Playing in front of a loud home crowd in the Ron Butler Gymnasium, the Lady Rangers proved they are more than capable of competing for the NTJCAC championship by pushing Hill College to the brink. Ranger forced the Lady Rebels to four games before falling.

"We held our own against Hill," said freshman blocker Kelsey Fitts. "As a team, I thought we did very well against them, considering they used to be ranked. I think the next time we play them we will be able to take it to five."

With the loss to the Lady Rebels, Ranger College suffered its first loss of the season at home to a Texas-based opponent. Prior to Monday, Ranger's only loss on their home court came against second-ranked Cowley County Community College on Sept. 14.

The Lady Rangers fell to 12-8 for the season and to 1-1 in conference play. Hill moved to 15-2 and 2-0.

Ranger will return to action against North Central Texas College on Sept. 27. The team's next home game will be Oct.3 when they host rival Cisco College at 6 p.m.
