Garcia shatters RC scoring record in historic win
Alba Mendez Garcia was just happy helping the Ranger Women's women's soccer team etch its name into history. She wanted to make it a day to remember.
And she did.
Garcia booted three goals on Tuesday afternoon and helped power the Ranger College women to a resounding 11-0 victory over the University of Arkansas-Cossatot in front of a large crowd at Rangers Field. The goals helped the Lady Rangers tie the school's all-time mark for wins in a single season at nine - and penciled Mendez Garcia in as the college's all-time leading scorer in women's soccer.
With her hat trick against UA-C, she has scored 15 goals this season, one more than Karolayne Souza scored in 2021 when she led RC to a 9-1-1 record and a berth in the Region 5 championship game.
The win over UA-C put the Lady Rangers in position to establish a new high mark for wins. The RC women will close out their regular season on Friday with a showdown against Louisiana State University-Eunice in Shreveport.
Ranger College
will play rival Hill College in the Region V championship game on Wednesday, Oct. 23, at Gateway Park in Fort Worth.
