
Wilson nets 14 in loss to Temple
She'Ray Wilson and Angel Kelly pumped in double figures to no avail on Saturday afternoon as Temple College snapped the Lady Rangers' 5-game win streak with a stunning 68-51 victory in Temple.
With the loss, Ranger College fell into a tie with Temple for second in the NTJCAC standings. The two teams, who split their two conference matchups, are 5-2 in league action.
Ranger, 5-5 overall, got off to a quick start against Temple. The RC women pumped in 14 points in the first quarter and held a slim lead, at 14-13, at the start of the second.
Temple, using a stifling defense that shut down RC's inside attack, rallied in the second. They posted a 13-point run in the ensuing period and took a 26-25 lead into the half.
The wheels came off for Ranger in the second half. The Lady Leopards outscored C by a 42-26 clip over the final 20 minutes of play.
As a team, Ranger shot just 36.5 percent from the floor, hitting on just 23 of their 63 attempts. The team made just one of its 14 three-point attempts.
Wilson led all Lady Rangers in scoring with 14 points. She also added seven rebounds and a team-leading three steals. Kelly added 10 points and seven boards. Lindsey Claude also did well, tallying nine points. Emily Vidal and Cyarah Kensmil pushed in seven apiece.
Ranger will return to action on Monday with a 1 p.m. start against Weatherford.
