Rangers improve to 23-2

Brayan Au and Jorell Saterfield pumped in 16 points apiece and helped carry the Ranger College men's basketball team to a key win over McLennan Community College on Feb. 6 in Waco. The two RC stars helped spark a decisive 36-30 run in the final 20 minutes to lift the Rangers to a 67-61 victory.

With the win, Ranger College moved to 23-2 for the season. The team also solidified its stranglehold on the Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference's lead with an 8-1 mark. The win, combined with a loss by rival Collin College, gave RC a 2-game lead in the standings heading into the final two weeks of regular season play.

McLennan, a perennial NTJCAC power, held its own against RC in the first half. The Highlanders matched RC point-for-point in the frame and went into the half with the score knotted at 31-31.

The Rangers, who entered the showcase ranked No. 4 in the country, kicked their offense into gear in the second half. Au, Saterfield, C.J. Roberts and Shakur Daniel all pumped in key shots to spearhead a game-winning 36-30 run in the final 20 minutes.

Roberts finished the game with 13 points. Daniel added 11.
