A win is a win when fighting for your postseason life
Ranger and Southwest Christian met to close out the Rangers regular season slate. The Rams and Rangers were playing to accomplish completely different tasks, RC wanted a victory to keep pace in the postseason race, SWCC was looking to avoid a winless conference season. The final score didn't indicate who was looking for what task, Southwest gave Ranger all they could handle, but RC picked up a critical win, 86-80.
Ranger beat SWCC 82-61 earlier this season.
Late in the second half, the Rams made a run to cut the nearly half long double-digit lead to just two possessions, but Ranger was clutch from the line down the stretch. Jabri McCall and Caleb Smith didn't miss and as a team, Ranger went 11-for-14 from the stripe in the final 20 minutes.
Akiem Daschner was nearly unstoppable on the block on his way to a team-high 29 points. Over the past three days, AD has scored a total of 56 points.
Smith added 20.
POSTSEASON POSITIONING
The regular season is over for the Rangers, they finished with a 22-8 record and 7-5 in conference. That bumps them ahead of Temple and Hill into third place in the conference and all but assures them a birth in the regional tournament. Hill closes the season at McLennan and TC is home against Collin County, both of those games are Wednesday night.
