RC picks up a pair of wins over Christmas break

A break for the holidays gave Ranger a chance to recoup from a challenging run through the month of November. RC played just a pair of games when they returned visits to Victoria College and Houston Community College.

In the first meeting, Ranger handled VC, 121-70. It was much closer the second time around with the Rangers making an eight-point halftime lead hold up for a 96-84 victory.

RC led 48-36 at the half.

Devonte Patterson led all scorers with 23 points. Akiem Daschner came off the bench to post a monster double-double racking up 16 points and hauling in 18 boards, 10 of those came on the offensive end.

2016-17 all-conference player Jabri McCall made his season debut coming off the bench to score nine points.

The next day, Ranger made the trip to Houston and posted 109 points on the Eagles for the second time this season winning 109-67 in the rematch.

Leading by 16 at the half, Ranger kept it locked in on the defensive end over the final 20 minutes when they held HCC to just 27 points.

Daschner balled out for the second-straight game scoring 22 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.

Kevin Major matched Daschner with 22 points.

Luis Rivas and Caleb Smith both added 18 points.

Keyshaad Dixon gave the Rangers five players in double figures with his 12 points.
