RC women run to 4th at Naimadu Classic

The Ranger College women's cross country team kicked off its 2019 season with an impressive effort at the Naimadu Classic, which was held Aug. 31 on the campus of Abilene Christian University. Facing a field that featured several NCAA programs, the Lady Rangers ran to fourth place in the team standings.

Ranger, competing with just five runners, tallied 96 points. Abilene Christian and Texas Tech finished first and second, respectively. McMurry finished two points ahead of RC.

Natali Mireles paced Ranger's efforts in the 4-kilometer race. She legged out a 16th-place finish with a time of 15 minutes, 49.42 seconds.

Teammate Kaylyn De la Rosa finished one spot later, taking 17th overall. De la Rosa's time was 15:50.70.

Aylin Huerta was the Lady Rangers' third top 25 finisher. She was 25th in the standings with a run of 16:53.

Yenifer Martinez and Fae Gonzalez also turned in strong performances in their first outing of the season.
