RANGER, Texas — September 20, 2025 — The Ranger College volleyball team overcame a slow start to earn a gritty 3–1 conference victory over Cisco College on Saturday afternoon. After dropping the opening set 25–21, the Lady Rangers stormed back to claim the next three (25–22, 25–19, 25–16), improving their conference record to 5-1 and overall mark to 9-6.
Balanced Attack Leads the Way
The Rangers' offense came alive after the first set, fueled by three players reaching double figures in kills. Sophomore Etsel Ramirez paced the attack with 12 kills and added 4 service aces and 11 digs. Carlota Mora tallied 10 kills and matched her offensive power with 6 aces and 16 digs, while freshman Key'Maria McBride also contributed 10 kills along with 2 block assists.
Setting the Table
The Rangers' setters kept the offense flowing with a balanced distribution. Bailey Black led the way with 23 assists to go along with 4 aces, while Tarryn Allen added 14 assists and Dafne Sosa chipped in 7.
Defensive Strength
Ranger's defense was just as vital in the comeback win. Dafne Sosa anchored the back row with a match-high 21 digs, while Mora and Ramirez reached double digits. At the net, Eunice Cervantes and Kymberly Sheppard each tallied 4 block assists, with McBride and Giulia Beatriz Silva adding two apiece.
Turning Point
After edging out Cisco in the second set to even the match, Ranger controlled the tempo the rest of the way, using aggressive serving and efficient blocking to close out sets three and four in convincing fashion.
Looking Ahead
With the win, Ranger College improves to 5-1 in conference and 10-6 overall. The Lady Rangers will continue their conference slate on Wednesday September 24 at 6:00pm as they play McLennan Community College in Waco, Texas. They will be back home again on Saturday September 27 at 1:00pm as they play host to North Central Texas College.
