Ranger moves into 4th in NTJCAC standings

Ranger College picked up solid play from freshmen Kaycie Shannon and Jordan Brown on Monday evening and powered its way into the conference volleyball tournament picture with a dominating 3-0 win over Vernon College. Playing in front of a large crowd in the Ron Butler Gym, Ranger won 25-18, 25-21, 25-14.

With the victory, Ranger College moved into sole possession of fourth-place in the Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference standings with a 4-4 record. RC trails Temple College by one-half game for third.

Teamwork – and a little extra motivation - was the key to the team's success, said sophomore hitter Macey Jordon.

"We trusted each other and played together as a team." She said. "We came out really intense. The last time we played them, we played awful so we wanted a little revenge. We came out and redeemed ourselves."

Ranger, now 14-11 for the season, dropped its first matchup with Vernon College by a 3-0 margin on Sept. 12.

The Lady Rangers, who also benefitted from outstanding games from sophomores Macey Jordon and Reanna Miller, will return to action on Oct. 10 when they face Southwestern Christian College in Terrell. The team's next home game will be on Oct. 17 against Hill College.
