Lady Rangers upend MVC in opener

Kaycie Shannon and Taylor Brann turned in outstanding performances in their debut with the Ranger College Lady Rangers on Saturday. As a result, the Lady Rangers kicked off the 2019 NJCAA volleyball season with a rousing 3-1 victory over Mountain View College.

Playing in front of a large crowd in the Ron Butler Gymnasium, the Lady Rangers rallied from a 1-0 deficit to win the final three frames of the best-of-five series.

Mountain View pulled off a late run to win Game 1 by a 25-23 clip. The Lady Lions had trailed by as many as three points earlier in the match.

Ranger College answered back in Game 2. Backed by the play of Shannon and fellow newcomer Kaylie Criswell, the RC women hit stride. They rolled MVC by a 25-22 margin in the second match.

Ranger never looked back from there. The RC women took the final two games easily.

Also playing well for the RC women in the opener was sophomores Macey Jordon, Reanna Miller, Samantha Holguin and Camryn Bevins.
