With several of her top players set to graduate, Ranger College head coach Nicole Smith knew going into the offseason she would have to bolster her roster with key offseason signings in order to make sure her team had the talent needed to improve on last year's school-record 23-win season.

She went a long way in filling those needs on March 26 when Pleasanton standout Kaycie Shannon signed a letter of intent to play for the Lady Rangers this fall.

An academic all-state selection. Shannon captained a Pleasanton team that went 33-10 this season and advanced to the regional quarterfinals in Class 4A.

As a senior, Shannon posted 498 kills for the Lady Eagles and registered 348 digs.

With RC, Shannon is expected to see time as an outside hitter and middle blocker.

Ranger, which has advanced to the Region V Volleyball Tournament in each of the past two years, is losing all-conference standouts Hayley Daniel, Hannah Brink, Briana Maxwell, Darby Hughes and Brenlee Jones.
