Brink, Hughes earn NTJCAC Player of the Week honors

Ranger College sophomores Hannah Brink and Darby Hughes added to an already memorable week on Thursday morning. Not only did the two help the Lady Rangers' volleyball team nail down a team-record 21st win and clinch the No. 2 in the upcoming Region V Volleyball Championships, they also earned high praise from the Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference.

NTJCAC officials announced on Thursday Brink and Hughes had been named the conference's players of the week.

A 6-foot-1 middle blocker, Brink was the NTJCAC offensive player of the week for Oct. 14-20.

One of the conference's top players, the Aurora, IL., native registered 26 kills, 10 digs, three solo blocks and seven block assists last week.

Hughes, who went into the Lady Rangers' final weekend of action having already become the team's all-time leader in assists, is the NTJCAC's defensive player of the week.

A first-team all-conference selection a year ago, the Franklin, Texas, native, she had 88 digs and eight assists in 13 sets.
