Ranger sweeps past North Lake

Hannah Brink and Kyria Gayle provided the Ranger College women's volleyball team with more than enough power at the net on Wednesday night. And the end result was a dominating sweep of the North Lake College Blazers in a non-conference showdown in front of a large crowd in the Ron Butler Gymnasium. Ranger College nailed down a 25-16, 25-19 and 25-17 victory.

"I felt we did a lot better tonight," said Hannah Brink, a 6-foot-1 standout from Aurora, Ill. "Normally, one aspect of our game struggles, whether that is passing or our offense but I felt like tonight we brought it all together and killed it."

The Lady Rangers, who also picked up solid performances from Briana Maxwell and Camryn Blevins, jumped on North Lake, quickly building a 1-0 lead by grinding out a 25-16 win in Game 1.

North Lake bounced back early in Game 2. The Lady Blazers reeled off six of the first 10 points and held an a slim lead. Brink, along with Hayley Daniel and Kelsey Fitts, put down the uprising with solid play at the net. The Lady Rangers rallied to take a 25-19 win.

Ranger also rallied from an early deficit in the final game to close out the contest.
