RC women boot No. 2-ranked Brookhaven

The Ranger College women's soccer team notched their biggest win of the young 2021 season on Sept. 10 with an impressive 2-1 road victory over nationally-ranked Brookhaven.

With the win, the Lady Rangers pushed their season record to a perfect 5-0 and handed Brookhaven, the No. 2-ranked Division III squad in the NJCAA ranks, it's first setback.

"They played really well," said RC head coach Rafael Gonzalez. "I could not be more proud of them."

As a team, RC pressed the Brookhaven defense throughout. The Lady Rangers launched eight shots on goal during the match. Brookhaven didn't have as many opportunities as the RC defense limited them to just five shots on goal.

Kerolayne Souza and Karina Gallegos gave Ranger all the offense they would need by punching balls into the net.

Ranger College will return to Region V play on Sept. 17 when they host Western Texas College at Rangers Field. The game will begin at 2 p.m.
