Quick start sends Lady Rangers by SWCC

Qaylia Stanton pumped in a game-high 26 points and Angel Reese recorded her second double-double in the past three games and helped power the Ranger College Lady Rangers to a convincing 85-66 victory over the Southwestern Christian Community College Lady Rams on Jan. 16 in Terrell, Texas.

With the win, the Ranger women improved to 13-3 heading into their Jan. 19 showdown with rival Hill College. More importantly, the win enabled the Lady Rangers to remain unbeaten in Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference play.

Ranger put SWCC in a deep hole in the first quarter. The Lady Rangers opened the contest with a 27-13 run in the first 10 minutes of play.

They never looked back.

Stanton was a big reason for RC's domination of SWCC. In addition to her 26 points, she also dished out a game-high seven assists and led the team in steals, with five.

Ranger continued to build its lead in the second period. They scored 21 points in the frame and took a 48-33 lead into the half.

They finished the victory with a 37-33 run in the final two frames.

Reese closed out the game with 20 points and 10 rebounds.

Ny'Keria Jones also scored into double figures, pushing in 15 points. She also finished second in rebounds with seven.
