Lollie scores 28 in Lady Rangers’ win

Marshalia Lollie pumped in a game-high 28 points and Kylah Mize added 11 more on Monday and powered the Ranger College women to a 68-63 come-from-behind victory over the Collin County Lady Cougars in the Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference opener.

With the win, Ranger College moved to 11-3 for the season and, more importantly, moved into a three-way tie for the top spot in the conference standings. Cisco and Grayson also notched wins in their openers.

Collin County, now 10-4, grabbed the upper hand early on. The Lady Cougars outscored Ranger by a 15-8 clip in the first 10 minutes of play and took a 7-point lead into the second quarter.

Lollie, who posted a perfect 10-for-10 effort from the free throw stripe, and Mize brought the Lady Rangers back. The two pumped in several clutch shots in the frame and sparked a 16-9 spree that enabled Ranger to tie the game at the half, 24-24.

Ranger didn't sow its pace in the third. The RC women pounded out a 19-14 run in the frame and never looked back.

Qaylia Stanton and Angel Reese also turned in solid outings for the RC women. Stanton finished with seven points, while Reese chipped in sox. Jaylan Gulley added five.

The Lady Rangers will return to action on Wednesday with a game against McLennan Community College in Waco.
