Lady Rangers roll past Howard
Giordin Johnson poured in 13 points and Marshalia Lollie grabbed 10 rebounds on Saturday and powered the Ranger College Lady Rangers to an impressive 57-37 win over Howard College in a non-conference showdown in the Ron Butler Gym.
The game was a make-up contest for both teams. The two squads were originally scheduled to play on Dec. 8 but were forced to postpone due to inclement weather.
Ranger College dominated Howard early. The Lady Rangers pounded out a 14-5 run in the first 10 minutes of the game and never looked back.
RC held a comfortable 28-18 lead at the half.
The Lady Rangers, now 17-7 overall heading into Wednesday's Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference showdown with Southwestern Christian College, sewed up the win with a 19-8 run in the third.
Johnson keyed the RC onslaught with a solid game from behind the three-point arc. She collected nine of her points on three long-distance shots.
Defensively, Lollie helped Ranger dominate Howard. As a team, Ranger outrebounded the Lady Hawks by a staggering 47-21 margin.
In addition to her 10 rebounds, Lollie scored eight points.
Angel Reese and Ruby Angok also turned in stellar outings. Reese, a freshman from Amarillo, scored five points and had eight rebounds. Angok had six points and eight boards.
