WEATHERFORD, TX - The Ranger College offense won a game and lost a game on Saturday in Weatherford vs. #15 Cowley County.
Runs were easy to come by in the first game of a double-header as Ranger put up six in the bottom of the 1st inning to take a quick lead against the Lady Tigers of Cowley. Ranger added 2 more runs in the 5th and a lone run in the 6th to ensure the victory.
Game 2 was a different story however, as the offense was held in check by Tiger pitcher Logan Wenzel (3-0). The Rangers were able to muster 1 run on 6 hits en route to a 2-1 loss.
Game 1 - The whole Ranger lineup got involved as every starter tallied at least one hit in the game. Ranger finished with 9 runs on 14 hits led by sophomore catcher Macey Marino. Marino was 2-2 with a sac fly and walk. Her 4 RBI led all scoring.
Shelby Neatherlin and Chandon Morris each contributed a double in the contest.
Julia Wright (4-2) picked up the win for Ranger throwing 6.0 innings while surrendering 5 runs, 3 earned, on 5 hits. She also added 3 strikeouts while walking two and hitting two batters.
Emily Levario shut the door in the 7th inning, retiring the Tigers in order to finish the game.
Game 2 - The Rangers were not able to pick up where they left off as the offense was held in check all game. Mackenzie Stark led with 2 hits and the lone RBI.
Shelby Neatherlin added another double in the contest.
Freshman starter, Lindsey Honeycutt fell to 2-3 on the season after an impressive performance for Ranger. Honeycutt pitched 6.0 innings, surrendered 6 hits, 2 runs and struck out 4 opposing hitters.
Levario again appeared in a relief role, throwing 1.0 inning and allowing 1 hit and 1 walk. Levario did not surrender a run.
Ranger will travel to Midland College for their next set of games on February 15th to face the Lady Chaps in a mid-week double-header.
