Ranger splits double-header at Tyler JC

BULLARD, TX - The Rangers used an offensive outburst to power past Tyler Junior College on the road in a split against last season's 4th place national tournament finishers.

Game 1 - Ranger jumped out to an early 8-0 lead initiated by a bases loaded triple by sophomore outfielder Madi Stark.  Stark's three RBI led the scoring for Ranger.  Freshman Bri Kowal had 3 hits in the contest and contributed 2 RBI.

Tyler's offensive had its own surge in the 3rd inning, scoring 5 runs and adding another run in the home half of the 4th.

Freshman relief pitcher Emily Levario put an end to all hopes of a comeback by the home team, throwing 3 complete innings and surrendering only 1 hit.  Levario picked up the save in the contest, her first of the season.

Julia Wright (3-2) picked up the win for Ranger, throwing 4.0 innings with 7 hits, 5 ERs, 2 walks and 1 strikeout.

Game 2 - Ranger again took the early lead in the 2nd inning on an RBI single by Riley Saegert. Tyler would respond in the home half of the 2nd with 2 runs of their own.  Ranger added 1 run in the 3rd and 2 runs in the 4th to control the 4-2 advantage until the home half of the 5th when Haille Weber's bloop single would plate the tying run for Tyler.

Tyler then added the go-ahead run in the bottom of the 6th inning on an RBI single by second baseman Tommi Goodman.  The run would be enough as Tyler's relief pitcher, Kelly Mardones struckout the side after allowing a single by Madi Stark.

Stark led all offense going 4-4 with a double, 1 R, 1 RBI and 1 SB.  Bri Kowal and Riley Saegert each had 2 hits and an RBI.

Lindsey Honeycutt (2-2) pitched a complete game while receiving the loss.  Honeycutt surrendered only 1 earned run in her 6 innings pitched along with 8 hits, 2 walks and no strikeouts.
