Boisjoli wins Southwest region title, advances to CNFR

Shelby Boisjoli etched her name into Ranger College history last weekend. The RC rodeo standout became the latest RC athlete to earn a berth in the College National Finals Rodeo by turning in an outstanding effort at the 54th Annual Tarleton Stampede on April 25-27.

Boisjoli won the Breakaway roping title in the National Indoor Rodeo Association's regular-season finale on Saturday. With the win, she finished atop the Southwest Region standings in breakaway roping and clinched a berth in the upcoming College National Finals Rodeo.

Boisjoli is the third RC standout to advance to the CNFR in the past four years. Former standout Wesley Thorp qualified for the national finals in team roping in 2016. Grey Essary advanced to the finals in 2015 in bull riding.

"I am proud to be able to say that Shelby won the Stephenville rodeo in the Breakaway and, by doing that, won the championship in the Southwest region and acquired a spot to attend the college finals," said RC head rodeo coach Llew Rust.

The college national finals event will be held June 9-15 in Casper, Wyoming.
