Howard runs to win at ACU Twilight meet

Jahlil Howard might want to pencil in Elmer Gray Stadium as one of his favorite running areas. Especially after his performance at the 2019 Abilene Christian University Oliver Jackson Twilight Invitational.

The Ranger College sensation set the college ranks on fire on April 25 by racing his way to the top spot in the 5,000-kilometer event.

"I thought I did pretty well," said Howard, who was among three RC runners to crack the top five in a race showcasing several larger NCAA programs.

Howard breezed through the course, winning in a time of 15 minutes, 28.45 seconds. ACU senior Travis Nichols was second, finishing almost 10 seconds behind Howard.

Gilberto Palomo and Daniel De La Cruz Flores placed fourth and fifth. Palomo penciled in a time of 15:58.98, while De La Cruz Flores checked in at 16:09.18

Laytham Magana also turned in a solid showing for RC. He placed ninth in the high jump with a height of 6-foot, 2 inches.
