Cedar Valley topples RC, 4-1

Cedar Valley scored twice in the closing minutes of play in the first half on Monday and then held on to take a 4-1 victory over the Ranger College men's soccer team in front of a small crowd in Lancaster.

With the loss, Ranger slipped to 1-5 for the season.

Ranger got off to a solid start against Cedar Valley. The Rangers took the early lead when Jose Calderon took a pass from team Luiz Mendez and deposited it into the net.

The lead didn't stand long, however. Cedar Valley scored a pair of goals in the final five minutes of the half and took a shaky 2-1 lead into the break.

Cedar Valley closed out the game with two second-half goals.

Ranger College will return to action on Saturday with a trip to Dallas to face off against nationally-ranked Richland College. The contest will start at 7 p.m.

Richland is ranked No. 1 in the latest NJCAA Division III soccer poll.
