Top-ranked Rangers move to 11-0

The Ranger College men's basketball team nailed down big road wins over Panola College and Murray State College this past week and pushed their season record to historic levels. With its 11-0 start to the 2019-20 season, the Rangers are off to the program's best-ever start in the Billy Gillispie-era. The team's victory over Murray State on Wednesday, Nov. 27, helped RC surpassing the 10-1 start they had to the 2016-17 season.

Murray State didn't make the win easy. They outscored Ranger College by a 34-32 clip in the final 20 minutes of regulation and suffered a narrow 70-66 setback in front of their home fans.

Ranger owned the first half of play. Backed by solid outings from Brayan Au, Keisei Tominaga and Montre Gipson, the RC men pounded out a 38-32 run on the first half.

Au finished with a game-high 19 points. Tominaga added 17, including 12 that came via four three-point shots. Gipson tallied 16 points while also contributing 10 rebounds and four steals.

Shakur Daniel also scored into double figures for RC, netting 10.

Gipson helped Ranger kick off the week with an 81-65 victory over Panola College. He posted the Rangers' first triple-double of the season by scoring 18 points, nabbing 10 rebounds and dishing out 10 assists.

Tominaga led RC in scoring in the win by throwing in 26. Daniel and C.J. Roberts chipped in 10 apiece.

Ranger will return to play on Monday when they host Victoria College at 7 p.m. in the Ron Butler Gymnasium. They will host Western Oklahoma State on Wednesday, starting at 7 p.m.
