No. 1-ranked Rangers rout Victoria

Mark Mayle pumped in a game-high 29 points and pulled down 14 rebounds on Wednesday and helped carry the No. 1-ranked Ranger College men's basketball team to a 106-60 romp over the Victoria College Pirates.

With the victory, the Rangers moved to 2-0 on their current four-game road trip and, more importantly, improved to 9-0 on the season. Ranger College tipped off the road trip on Monday with an 85-68 win over Paris Junior College.

Mayle came off the bench to have his best outing of the season. The 6-foot, 8-inch freshman from Malvern, OH, shot 75 percent from the floor by hitting on nine of his 12 attempts. He also hit on 11 of his 12 free throw opportunities.

Ranger dominated Victoria in the first half. The Rangers, sparked by a trio of three-point shots from Keisei Tominaga, outscored the Pirates by a 44-22 clip in the initial 20 minutes of action.

Tominaga and Mayle were among for RC players to finish in double-figures, offensively. Shakur Daniel narrowly missed a double-double as he registered 20 points and nine rebounds. Jorell Saterfield pushed in 12 points.

Brycen Thomas and Kenyatis Turner led Victoria with 18 apiece. Former RC junior varsity standout Jacob Turned also pitched in 10 for the Pirates.

Ranger College will continue its road trip with a trip to Carthage on Monday to face off with Panola College. The game will start at 7 p.m.
