Au, Jackson net All-Region honors

During the 2018-19 basketball season, Ranger College was ranked among the top squads in the nation. The Rangers breezed to the Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference title and rolled into the Region V tournament. The Rangers' talent level certainly wasn't lost on the rest of the teams in the region.

Ranger was among three teams in the Northern and Western conferences to have three players selected to the All-Region V postseason squad. South Plains and Collin County also had two players selected.

Brayan Au and Jonathan Jackson highlighted the 12-man squad.

A freshman guard from Nuedo Casas Grandes, Mexico, Au was among the region's top players this season. He averaged more than 14 points per game. He also ranked among the region's top shooters, shooting more than 43 percent beyond the three-point line.

A sophomore from Fort Worth, Jackson also starred for RC. A 6-foot-5 forward, he averaged more than 12 points a game and five rebounds under head coach Billy Gillispie.

Au and Jackson helped lead Ranger to a 31-4 record this season. The team spent much of the season ranked in the top 10 in the NJCAA Division I polls.

Gaige Primm and Trey Wade joined Au and Jackson on the all-region roster. The South Plains duo helped the Texans claim the regional tournament title. Primm and Wade were both among the leading players in the Western Junior College Athletic Conference.

NTJCAC Player of the Year Tajzmel Sherman and Lamont Simmons were both selected to the all-region squad from Collin County. Sherman and Simmons led the Cougars to the conference's second-place spot during the regular season.

Also making the all-region team were Odessa's James Reese, Howard's Garrick Green, McLennan's Xavier Armstead, New Mexico Junior College's Gideon George, Temple's Kedrian Johnson and Clarendon's Ellis Jefferson.
