Rangers roll past Grayson in NTJCAC finale

Caleb Asberry was among five Ranger College scorers to reach double figures on Wednesday as the No. 4-ranked Rangers closed out their Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference schedule with a resounding 108-69 victory over Grayson College.

With the victory, Ranger finished the regular season with a 27-2 record. More importantly, during the season, they won 13 of their 14 conference games en route to netting the team's third NTJCAC title in the past four seasons.

Asberry highlighted Ranger's rout. The sophomore sensation poured in a game-high five three-pointers en route to registering 24 points. Keyshaad Dixon and Jaren English tallied 13 each, while Coryon Mason and Deladris Green chipped in 12 and 11, respectively.

The Rangers, who eclipsed the 100-point mark seven times this year, took control of the game early against the Vikings, RC outpointed Grayson by a 53-36 margin in the initial 20 minutes of play. They finished the 39-point victory with a 55-33 run in the second half.

Asberry and Dixon helped power the RC offense with solid games. In addition to their scoring totals, both dished out five assists.

Shaz Harvey led the team with four steals.

As the NTJCAC champion, Ranger will advance to the Region V Men's Basketball Championships to face off with the No. 4 seed from the Western Junior College Athletic Conference. The tournament tips off on Friday, March 7, in Abilene.
