Rangers roll to win over Weatherford

Jonathan Jackson scored 22 points and Coryon Mason came off the bench to add 21 more on Monday and helped lift the Ranger College men's basketball team to an easy 88-69 victory over the Weatherford College Coyotes in front of a small crowd in the Ron Butler Gym.

Jackson and Mason were among three RC players to reach double figures in the victory. Sophomore Jaren English also played well, turning in a double-double performance with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

For Ranger, the win was important. The victory moved the Rangers to within one victory of nailing down the Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference's No. 1 seed at the upcoming Region V tournament. RC, now 25-2 overall and ranked fourth in the latest NJCAA poll, is 11-1 in conference play.

The Rangers, who have now won 12 consecutive games, got off to a quick start against the Coyotes. RC outpointed Weatherford by a 39-24 clip in the first 20 minutes of play and never looked back.

RC completed the game with a 49-45 spree in the second half.

The Rangers will travel to Temple on Feb. 20.
