RC improves to 16-2 with win over Jets

Jaren English pumped in 20 points and Coryon Mason and Bryan Au both added 15 more on Thursday (Jan. 17) and sparked the Ranger College men to a rousing 97-52 nonconference victory over the Northern Oklahoma-Enid Jets in the Ron Butler Gymnasium.

The victory pushed the Rangers' season record to 16-2 heading into their Jan. 19 showdown with nationally-ranked Hill College.

The win was extra special for RC as it came in front of Erica Downey, the woman who donated a kidney to Rangers' head coach Billy Gillispie recently. Downey, who received a large ovation from the at halftime, is the wife of an Oklahoma college coach.

The Rangers didn't waste any time in turning on the fireworks for Downey. Ranger outscored the Jets by a 46-21 clip in the first 20 minutes of play.

Offensively, Ranger shot almost 60 percent from the floor against Northern Oklahoma-Enid, hitting on 40 of their 69 shots.

Ranger closed out the win with a 51-31 romp in the second half.

Braden Bell also finished in double figures for the Rangers. He netted 14 to go along with five boards.
