Rangers run down SWCC

Bryan Au scored a game-high 16 points and Tracy Jones and Braden Bell headlined a smothering defensive push on Wednesday en route to spurring the eighth-ranked Ranger College men's basketball team to an impressive 95-67 victory over the Southwestern Christian Community College Rams.

With the win, Ranger improved to 2-1 in Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference play heading into Saturday's showdown with nationally-ranked Hill College.

Au highlighted an RC offensive outing that saw the team garner points from 11 different players. Au, who knocked down two of RC's seven three-point shots, was among four Rangers to reach double figures, joining Jaren English (15), Coryon Mason (14) and Brian Rios (13).

The Rangers, who have won three straight since their stunning 118-111 triple overtime loss to Collin County on Jan. 7, all but wrapped up the win in the first half. Ranger outscored SWCC by a staggering 48-21 margin in the first 20 minutes and never looked back.

The Rangers also benefitted from a stellar showing by freshman Shasirae Harvey. He finished with a team-high five assists and three steals.

Jones and Bell both helped pace the RC defense by grabbing eight rebounds.
