Collin stuns Ranger in 3OT

Collin County Community College did the unthinkable on Monday in the 2019 Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference opener. They upset No. 7-ranked Ranger.

Collin County outscored Ranger by a 12-5 margin in the third overtime period and raced to a 118-111 victory on their home court.

With the loss, Ranger College fell to 13-2 heading into Wednesday's showdown with rival McLennan Community College. Collin moved to 14-1.

Ranger College struggled to keep pace with the Cougars in the first 20 minutes of play. Collin County posted a 41-32 run in the opening half and took a nine-point lead into the break.

Ranger came roaring back in the second half. Backed by the play of Jonathan Jackson, Jaren English and point guard Keyshaad Dixon, the Rangers reeled off a 48-39 spree in the frame and sent the game into overtime knotted at 80-80.

The two teams matched each other shot-for-shot in the ensuing two OT frames and went into the third extra frame with the score tied at 106.

English finished as the game's top scorer, netting a season-high 30 points. He also pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds.

Jackson and Dixon contributed 23 and 12, respectively. Coryon Mason and Braden Bell added eight and seven.
