Rangers excited to open new season

After posting a 22-win season a year ago that saw the Ranger College men making an early exit at the Region V Basketball Championships, head coach Billy Gillispie is looking forward to a new beginning.

That beginning will be at hand in a matter of days.

Ranger College, which tipped off its preseason action this past weekend by competing in the Millen/Mitchell Junior College Jamboree in Dallas, will begin the new season in November. The Rangers will play 30 games, including 14 Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference matchups.

"We're looking forward to getting the season started," said Gillispie.

Ranger College will tip off the season on Nov. 2 by facing off against Central Arizona in the first round of the annual Midland College Classic. The team's first home appearance will be Nov. 6 against Coastal Bend Community College.

The Rangers will open NTJCAC action on Jan. 7, 2019.

The top four teams in the final NTJCAC standings will advance to the Region V Basketball Championships on 6-9 at Abilene Christian University in Abilene.
