Rangers’ doubleheader in Big Spring canceled

The Ranger College baseball games with Howard College scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 6, have been canceled due to inclement weather in Big Spring.

A winter storm dumped more than 8 inches of snow on much of the Permian Basin on Wednesday, forcing officials from both colleges to cancel games. The two teams had been scheduled to play a doubleheader this afternoon, starting at 1 p.m.

According to reports from Howard College, Jack Barber Field was still under several inches of snow at 11 a.m.

"Winter storms always win," joked RC head coach Scott Norwood. "The Storms never lose."

The two teams are tentatively scheduled to play two games on Saturday at Ellis Burks Field in Ranger.

Ranger heads into the weekend at 1-1 for the season. The team split its season-opening doubleheader with Galveston College last Sunday.
