Ranger JV drops game to Brookhaven

The Ranger College junior varsity baseball team dropped a tough decision to the Brookhaven College Bears on Monday afternoon at "The Corral." The Bears broke open a tight game in the fourth inning by scoring five times and racing to a 22-5 victory.

Ranger picked up its first run of the game in the bottom of the fourth on a solid play from Caleb Hannah. The Ranger catcher scored on a double steal, scoring from third base when the Brookhaven catcher attempted to throw out Noah Gonzalez on a stolen base attempt at second.

Harper Roberts got the RC offense kickstarted in the sixth. The freshman pounded out a one-out single that drove home Tony Rivera and Brent Schaffer. Rivera and Schaffer led off the home half of the inning by drawing back-to-back walks. They moved into scoring position moments later on a sacrifice by Kyran Fichter.

Ranger added two more runs in the seventh. After Cole Tupin had opened the frame by getting hit with a pitch, Ryder David drew a one-out walk. From there, Rivera drew a free pass to load the bases. Schaffer delivered the big blow in the frame, lining a two-run double to right to plate both Tupin and David.

Ranger College will close out its home schedule on April 12 when they host Southwest Collegiate Prep Academy at "The Corral." The game will start at 1 p.m.
